The Emotional Support Department was temporarily closed for recovery and routine maintenance.
After a full stretch of boarding and daycare, both boys returned home with very little interest in official duties.
There was no supervising.
No morale boosting.
No unnecessary wrestling scheduled for the afternoon.
Just two very tired doodles trying to remember why anyone would stand upright on purpose.
Rio slept harder than usual.
Remi melted into the couch like his bones had been politely removed.
Both followed their humans around just enough to confirm everyone was still where they belonged.
Then they went back to sleep.
There were extra naps.
Long sighs.
Heavy blinks.
A noticeable reduction in department productivity.
And honestly, it made sense.
Even the best emotional support team needs time to restock.
Sometimes recovery doesn’t look productive.
Sometimes it looks like two doodles asleep before lunch.
